Gluten Free Taco Seasoning

Okay, so I know taco seasoning is not that expensive. But why is gluten free taco seasoning almost always twice as much?? More so if you want a brand that sells clean ingredients and no added sugars or gums. It’s wild to me because gluten free taco seasoning is incredibly simple to make and delicious! And you can do it very inexpensively. This recipe for homemade taco seasoning is also paleo and Whole30 compliant. Save yourself some money and make that stuff yourself!

Notes:

How do you store the seasoning? We prefer to keep ours in the freezer because it will stay fresh for up to 3 months. You can also store at room temperature. If storing at room temperature, it is good for about a month.

Does it matter what kind of starch you use? No, the starches are interchangeable in this recipe. You can use any of the most common – corn, tapioca, potato, or arrowroot.

Do you like regular or smoked paprika? I like to mix it up. Sometimes I will use one and sometimes the other. This is a personal preference and both have merit.

How can I kick up the spice? This is a pretty mild seasoning mixture. Should you wish for a spicier mix, add cayenne powder. I would start with ½ tsp and go up in increments of that until you find the level of spice you are looking for.

For some reason, gluten free taco seasoning is always twice as much as the regular kind. I have no idea why, because it is so simple to make! This recipe is also paleo and Whole30 compliant if you use a grain free starch like tapioca or arrowroot.
